Yellow: Solar Plexus Chakra: I Do Manipura

The solar plexus chakra, a.k.a Manipura in sanskrit, is the third of the seven major chakras that run along the spine. It is located between the navel and the diaphragm. The solar plexus governs the stress hormone cortisol and influences the adrenal glands.  It also governs the digestive system, which includes the stomach, large and small intestines, liver, pancreas and gallbladder.  The solar plexus chakra plays and integral role in the digestion of food; and amazingly, how we digest our thoughts and experiences.

  • Solar plexus: Will Power
  • Organ: Liver, digestive system
  • Color:            Yellow
  • Element:       Fire
  • Tone:            B
  • Affirm:           I do

The solar plexus chakra is aligned with the color yellow.  It resonates with the feelings of willpower, courage, self-control, self-direction, self-motivation, self-mastery and purpose.

When balanced, the solar plexus chakra invokes within us a strong sense of self and self-worth.   It creates a way for self-mastery over our thoughts and emotions, which provides us with a clear sense of direction and a stress-free environment.  This opens the way for us to follow our true path.  The ability to think with clarity giving us an opportunity to put our ideas into a plan, and to take action and see it through until completion.

An imbalanced solar plexus chakra brings feelings of lack of will, fearful thinking, limitations, low aspirations, negative self-worth, cluttered thinking and the inability to get things done. It creates the lack of power and the confidence to do what it takes to manifest what you want.

Consuming raw and cooked foods that are yellow, whether the flesh, pulp or skin can support you in reclaiming your will power.  Yellow colored foods can also create a sense of peace.

One of the reasons why we crave certain foods and or always choose the yellowest lemon or summer squash is because instinctively, we are wanting to restore will power, peace and purpose.

You may have found yourself craving and eating lemon, corn, or drinking copious amounts of mango nectar or wanting to have lemonade with every meal. Well, your subconscious self was doing what it does best. It put your conscious self on notice that you need to eat certain colored foods to support the healing and balancing of your mind and body.
